Recreation, Tourism, and Sport Specialty Group

Our mission is to provide a forum for, and to encourage research and teaching of, applied and academic aspects of recreation, tourism and sport geography. We meet once a year at the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Geographers (usually held in April each year). We are a diverse group including geographers from across the United States and very many geographers from around the world. We encourage graduate students to join our group and participate in our special sessions at the Annual Meeting. We organize a couple of social events during the conference and we also hold an open business meeting.

AAG Knowledge Communities

RTS news is also posted in the Knowledge Communities section of the AAG website. These pages are accessible to members who have paid their annual membership dues. The Recreation,Tourism and Sport Specialty Group has about 300 members in our Knowledge Community. For those interested in becoming active in the Knowledge Community, simply select the Recreation, Tourism & Sport Specialty Group box when prompted during registration/renewal of AAG membership.
